Sample (1) Itinerary

 7-Day Itinerary rail experience.

  1. The Empire Builder departs from Chicago Union Station every day at 3:05 PM
  2. The train travels through Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho
  3. The train splits in Spokane, with one train going to Seattle and the other to Portland
  4. The train arrives at its destination just before noon
  5. The train returns in the other direction at 4:45 PM

Best Season to Travel

The best time to travel is late Spring (mid May to early June) as this provides the best balance of pleasant weather, long daylight hours for viewing scenery and lush greenery across the prairies while still seeing snow-capped mountains in the Rockies.
